How was the Grand Canyon Formed? The depth was probably formed by the Colorado River. However, the wide and the formation could be formed by other forces, such as the strong winds. Strong winds rushes through the Grand Canyon and erode the limestone and sandstone over time. Apart from the Colorado River and the wind, pouring rain also account for the formation of the Grand Canyon. Rain fall cuts deep into the softer rock. It was mentioned that perhaps the greater course of the formation is the ice. Water that has entered into the cracks of the rocks became frozen during cold season. The expansion of the ice caused the wall of the canyon to split. These are some of the factors as to how the Grand Canyon Formed.
