The Grampians : The Grampians National Park is the third largest park in Victoria, Australia. It has one of the most amazing natural features and wildlife. Visitors like the various attractions here. The attractions here include remarkable rock formations, wildlife, plants, flowers, streams, cascades, waterfalls and Aboriginal rock art.

The Grampians offer a variety of activities for visitors. There are organised day trips for visits to the Mackenzie Falls and Balconies rock formations. Activities such as bush camping, rock climbing, hiking and exploration walks are also available. Many rock climbers from all around the world come to try climbing the challenging steep rocks here. The craggy slopes and sandstone mountains were formed more than 400 million years ago by an upthrust of the earth’s crust. Erosion has created these unique rock formations.

The four greatest mountain ranges of the Grampians are Mt Difficult in the north, Mt William in the east, Serra in the southeast and Victoria in the southwest. A smaller one, the Wonderland Range, has one of the most stunning scenery. You can enjoy scenic drives and wonderful walks here. Mt Stapylton in the north is well known as a rock climbing spot. The Victoria Ranges are the most remote. The Buandik camping ground here is popular for camping. The forests valley between Serra and Victoria Ranges is known for its wildlife and is a popular area for viewing wonderful displays of wildflowers. Halls Gap is a popular town in the Grampians. It lies between Mt William and Mt Difficult ranges. In this town, you can find shops, restaurants, cafes and accommodations.

There is an extensive collection of rock art in the Grampians National Park. About 80 per cent of the state’s indigenous rock art can be found here. The Brambuk National Park and Cultural Centre is partly run by local Aboriginal communities. The Halls Gap Wildlife Park and Zoo has a wide variety of animals kept in a natural bush setting. The animals here include wallabies, grey kangaroos, peacocks, wombats, possums, deer and monkeys. There are free tours available but booking is required.

If you like nature, plants and flowers, you would be enchanted by the great variety of trees, shrubs and wildflowers found in the Grampians. The park contains almost one-third of all Victorian plant species. In spring, many kinds of wildflowers burst from creeks and valley grounds, creating striking beauty at the mountains. Hence, it is best to visit the place during spring when the wildflowers bloom.

The Grampians is indeed a large park with an interesting array of attractions. As described above, it has spectacular sceneries of rock formations, amazing waterfalls, a rich variety of wildlife and plants, beautiful displays of wildflowers, etc. Visitors have plenty of activities to do which include sightseeing, bush walking, camping, hiking and rock climbing. A trip to the Grampians would certainly be an exciting one indeed!
